Hello, I have a 16 inch MBP I just purchased with the most recent version of Catalina. I have noticed an interesting behavior and want to verify this is normal while still in the 2 week return window.

When I have the computer on the iGPU and put it to sleep, if I press a key to wake it up the display simply comes back on.

If I have the computer on the dGPU with switching disabled and I put it to sleep, when I press a key the display comes back on, the screen turns on, rapidly blinks once to a black screen, and then comes back to the regular 'on' screen. This all happens within less than about two seconds I would estimate.

It happens with 100% consistency on each setting - always and only when the dGPU is enabled, never on iGPU, and the computer functions great. Apple Diagnostics revealed no problems. However, I prefer to use the system on the dGPU with switching disabled due to the slight UI delays associated with the iGPU, and I just want to make sure this is not indicative of an issue with the graphics card.

Therefore, I would just like to verify - is this normal behavior?

Many thanks!

I have it when I start photoshop (which enables the dGPU?). It will turn black for a few seconds. This behaviour is new in 10.15.6.

I appreciate it! Kind of an unusual behavior as my previous dGPU Macs never did, but it is good to know this screen blinking is normal. Not a big deal but I wanted to be sure it didnt indicate a hardware issue. Thank you!
