Ah, remember the days back in 2.2.1 when GPS would actually work? I've got 3.0 running on my iPhone 3G and GPS is super inaccurate in Maps now and it no longer follows me in real time. Instead, every few seconds, the blue orb updates and then moves.

Also, I was just standing in an open parking lot on a beautiful sunny day with a blue sky and my iPhone had a huge blue circle around it.

Somehow I remember it being way more accurate in 2.x.

I also miss the way the dot used to move in real time as you moved.

Who's with me?

Wirelessly posted (BB 8900: BlackBerry8900/4.6.1.101 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/301)

My GPS appears to be working but when using maps the network is extremely slow; sometimes, the map behind the dot doesn't update fast enough and all I get is a blue dot wondering useless over a gray background...

Yeah, I remember. Now my house has a GIANT blue circle around it. Apparently, I could be in a lake, on trees, or (correctly) in my house.

Hey, here's a thought...stop complaining! Enjoy your iPhone and stop complaining about everything!

Doh. How stupid of people to expect their iphone to work properly. I suppose if the phone app only worked 75% of the time you would tell people to stop complaining and just enjoy it, eh?

My GPS used to be exact on 2.2.1 and now it's basically 2-3 houses over. I can agree.

No, but if you look at *all* his posts, all he does is complain about it. This doesn't work, the text is one pixel off, yap yap yap. He complains more than anyone here, combined.

Mine still thinks I'm in Texas. but I am in Delaware.... least I used to think that. Maybe I am in Texas.

Try this...

Hmm.. mine is perfect even when walking. Maybe try a restore??

after I helped my best friend activate his new iPhone 3GS, my 3GS would show a super small circle around the blue dot and his was a huge circle around the blue dot. Turning off and on did nothing... Finally I had him reset his network settings. Upon restarting, his got the same small circle that mine did. Keep in mind, it RESETS YOUR MMS GOODNESS!! Don't say you weren't warned. :)

how do you reset your network settings?

Update: nevermind... got it

I have not checked this yet.

Checking now...

Yikes. You are correct. Mine used to be dead accurate, even to the corner of the house I was in. Now, it's got me about 1000 feet off, in my neighbors house. :(

EDIT:
OK, I followed the advice here, and reset my network settings. It's actually worse now. It put me 1000 feet in the opposite direction is was before.

Just leave before her husband comes home and you'll be alright.

on the street mine is very accurate by about 10 meters and in buildings about 20 meters... i think that is good for a mobile device.

I'm sorry I complained. Damn.

Before... it used to be "Hey, it's only a beta! Beta, beta, beta, beta!"

Now it's... "Why do you complain? Stop complaining and enjoy your iPhone".

Well, here's the deal. For some reason I figured that if something worked in 2.2.1, it would continue to work in 3.0. I didn't know I was just supposed to live with this stuff... how weird.

Anyways... I reset my Network Settings and it's still off. It used to be so cool to watch the blue dot move in real time as I was driving... now it moves, pauses, moves pauses, more pauses, moves again... it's ridiculous!

I rarely saw a blue ring around the blue dot before 3.0. It used to pinpoint my location almost exactly and follow me in real time... not so much anymore.

For those that say it's working, are you on a 3G or 3GS?
