A friend of mine works at att and he was working today and was told that att will not have white for launch. He said he isnt sure about apple having them.

Of course, apple will have them...
It's just that apple won't have it ready for other 3 rd party retailers. Either apple thinks that white ones will not have a huge demands or apple believes that their sales on white models were not great from both 3GS and 3G. Of course apple could be having issues with white iphone.
I have decided to just give up on ordering from other places. I am going with apple.com.
