So how do you force the iPhone or iPad to open a link, say from ebay, that's not a phone numnber but a link for the item?

The only options are either call, create contact or add to existing contact. This is annoying when checking your email and trying to tap on the link.

Any ideas?

Here's the copy:
You won this item on eBay: Apple Airport Express - 802.11n 330425414420

Of course the last digits is a link. When tapping, copy link isn't an option. And just copying the number treats it as a number. Ideas?

I've had same issue, this is how I solved

Hi, I also would get this with numbers 7 or 10 digits in length, best trick I've found was to add a letter to the string and edit it out on the the copy/paste, hope this helps

Yeah, the iPhone gets confused about strings of numbers and thinks they're phone numbers, even when they aren't, and even when they actually are links to other information. I get this all the time when I receive e-mails with tracking numbers, that on my computer are links to UPS, FedEx, etc, but my iPhone treats them as phone numbers. If I click the link (because it actually is one) on my computer I get to see the tracking data; when I tap it on my iPhone I get, "Call", "Add to Contact", etc. I'm sure they'll fix this in a future update.
