not able to "open" downloaded files?

So I moved my default downloads folder to a USB HD hooked up to my Apple TC. Ever since then whenever I try to download a file, Firefox makes me "save" the file. It will not let me open it. This happens for every type of file, even PDF's.

Any idea why this is?
