Not able to receive or send contact in i phone 4s as business card

I am relatively new to the i phone use group. I am not able to send or receive contact ( mobile number) in my i phone as business card. What is the solution,

Go to Contacts, click on the contact you want to share, scroll all the way down on the contact card and click "Share Contact." Voila!

Even if I try this, I get notification as message was not sent, and try again!!!
