I installed iTunes 10.3 and decided to do a test. In the past I had purchased a Fatboy Slim greatest hits album. I had hoped to upgrade it to iTunes+ but it never showed up on my available upgrades so I e-mailed iTunes support and they said it was not yet available in iTunes+ format.
So I deleted it from my library and used the new iTunes 10.3 to re-download it and it came in as 128 kBPS and protected AAC format.

only iTunes Match will be making everything 256. Right now the only features from iCloud turned on in 10.3 are auto downloads and redownload.

I had the exact same hopes of simply deleting my protected content and re-downloading it with iCloud. It's interesting that Apple still keeps a copy of the old DRM files.

So, once the iTunes Match is up and running will we be able to do this? Or will it only work for music obtained through other means?
