Not automatically joining selected network

Hello all,

Running High Sierra 10.13.6 on late 2011 MBP. In System Preferences > Network, I have 2 network names, to choose from, 2.4G and 5G. I selected the 5G and checked the box for "Automatically join this network" but it keeps automatically joining the 2.4G.

Any ideas?
