I read a few threads about this but wondered if someone had more info. I just got an iPad so not very versed with it. I go to visit my dad in the hospital and they have a public network there. The system shows a network and a strong signal but the iPad will not connect. Well it does some days and not others. I have tried turning on and off the airplane mode, resetting the network, holding the on key and home key until it shuts down... But no luck. Anything new out there?
Thanks

Since you mention airport mode I guess you own a 3G ipad. I don't, I have a wifi.

Usually when waking up the ipad is offline, but if you go to settings and toggle wifi on/off you get the signal back. Another workaround is to change the display brightness and magically it gets the signal back.

Only once I went to a cafe, they gave us the password for the wifi, it connected and had the connection icon on top but the signal never responded so we couldnt use the internet at all.
