This is in regards the issue many are having with there not being the prerequisite space to upgrade to 7. It seems the most common and accepted recommendation I've seen is to unpair and re-pair the watch to iPhone. If anyone knows of a better way, please let me know.

If I unpair and re-pair, restoring from new, will this delete Apple Watch Workout data that was synced to Fitness and Health on iPhone? i.e. Will my running workouts and stats (that were obtained from the default Workout app on Apple Watch) be retained in the default Fitness and Health apps in iPhone? Or will these disappear?

Also, like many others mentioned about this upgrade, previous upgrades also took hours for me with numerous technical issues I had to work around. It seems these issues won't necessarily be avoided this time. Is there any good reason to upgrade to 7? I checked the summary page and nothing stands out to me that would warrant going to all of this trouble.

The health data is stored in the health app on the phone. Removing your watch won’t remove this data. Apple would have a hard time getting people to upgrade their watch if you lost all your workout and health data every time you bought a new watch and unpaired the old one;)

The one thing that you do lose that annoys me every time I need to unpair and repair is the credit cards you’ve added for apple pay. Of course they can all be added back easily enough once you repair. It’s just an annoyance to me that it needs to be done.

My husband’s Series 3 watch kept telling me there were not enough GB on his watch for the updates. I rebooted his iPhone X and the watch and it did finally update! My series 5 and series 6 watches have 32GB. His series 3 GPS has only 8GB. He has no music, no audiobooks, only ONE app installed. Nothing I could have deleted. SMH

That’s what mine says on my series 3, and I dont have anything in it. Guess ill have to do the unpairing.

Not a happy Apple customer.

1) After my run playlist randomly stopped syncing with my phone, I decided updating might fix it.

2) When I tried to restore from backup after unpairing and re-pairing, got an error 'Restore Failed; Failed to restore with Error: Error Domain=NBErrorDomain Code=0 "(null)";. So I had to set up as a new watch, which meant having to re-tweak all the settings afterwards.

3) So about 1 hour in it was finally ready for the update. I started the download. Estimated time remaining at the start varied between 2-4 hours. It came to an end at about 2 hours. Or was it the end?

4) At the "end" IT SAID CANNOT VERIFY UPDATE BECAUSE I AM NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. BUT I WAS. AND THEN THE DOWNLOAD THAT TOOK HOURS APPARENTLY GOT SCRAPPED BECAUSE NOW IT'S DOWNLOADING AGAIN, BACK AT 2H LEFT.

WTF APPLE???!!!

Seriously folks, go on a vacation while Apple Watch is updating. It's an all-day thing.

Edit: Watch finally finished updating sometime while I slept. So it took anywhere from about 5.5 to over 7.5 hours from start to finish. Crazy!
