I had around 245gb for my initial backup. The hard drive I backed up to had 465gb of free space. Now Time Machine won't do any hourly backups because it says there's not enough space. Isn't it just supposed to delete old backups when free space runs out? Also the hard drive has 223gb of free space right now. The incremental backups can't be all that big since my files haven't changed very much since the initial backup.

i'm wondering, did you re-install your mac using time machine restore? Cause when I did that a couple of months ago, it did a complete re-write of all of my files even though they were identical to one of the backups (because i restored from one of those backups)

Other than that, I would do a complete re-format of the drive. Tell me what happens, i'm curious.
