Not getting email notifications (badges, etc).

I got a 6+ and I added my Gmail account to it. I haven't seen an email badge once, but when I just manually checked my mail I had like 6 unread messages... am I missing something here or is there an issue?

Notifications > Mail > Enable what want (lock screen, badges etc.)

It's all enabled, which is what threw me off.
