The new MBP units sure look nice...

But I know Apple is LYING when they say only a tiny fraction were effected by bad keys. The issue is with debris getting into the keyboard and I was told this by someone I know at Apple and confirmed by Apple (by a tech with loose lips).
I work in Hollywood and Mac is king here in the film industry. I know of exactly ONE person who has not had keyboard issues. Only one.

I returned my 15" MBP and went with a new iMac 27 5K and an Mac Air. The process was frustrating and time consuming. I'd love to get a new MBP, but I'm not testing products for Apple. I'll wait another year and see if the keyboards are safe.

You know this how?

1) Friend who was working at a Genius Bar in LA told me they were experiencing heavy returns on 2016 units.

2) A client in NY, who works with Apple, confirmed being told the same thing.

3) Tech at an LA store explained that the new keyboards were improperly tested and that the design was unable to cope with dust and debris. She also confirmed #1.

4) Apple Tech on phone, advised me that the issue was likely to return post-repair as it was design related. This person would not confirm that "many" units were effected, but admitted that he had returned his own MBP for an older version.

5) Girlfriend in NY ordered many of the new units for Board of Ed and many were returned due to keyboard defects (makes sense that the keyboards had trouble with children).

6) Since returning my MBP units and buying desktops, I have spoken to an independent repair station who has now serviced some of these units. Again, they confirm all of the above.

1 through 5 led to me fighting with Apple. They insisted that I send it in for repairs, but I pushed back. Eventually they gave me a full refund and for my trouble I ended up with 650 dollars extra moneys toward a well loaded i7 iMac and MacBook Air.
I'd call all of the above a solid indication of a serious problem.

My rather large company has a rather large deployment of MacBook Pro’s. I have asked the computer support service lead many times about this and he keeps telling me he hasn’t seen an uptick in keyboard support calls the last few years.

Plus, i have never had any problems with my keyboard and I don’t treat it particularly well.
