Not-instant wake from sleep. Any ideas?

My 2017 MacBook often displays a black screen for a few seconds after I open the lid while my 2014 Air lights up instantly.

I've already disabled `sleep harddisk where possible` under system settings. Anyone else have any ideas?

Not a big deal but still annoying.

Sorry to revive an old thread but is anyone else experiencing this with a 2017 MacBook? I've had mine for a few months now and definitely have this problem. The computer is basically frozen for several seconds after coming out of sleep mode, but only if it has been asleep for a fairly long amount of time (at least 1 hr). Also webpages in Chrome don't refresh automatically after waking up from sleep. Even if I try to manually refresh a webpage using cmd+r it takes several seconds.
