'Not qualified for free iCloud service'?

I regularly use Find my Friends on my iPhone 3GS, but today when I tried to login I was shown this alert that my iPhone isn't qualified to use the app anymore.

Really frustrating, the link redirects to a this MobileMe troubleshoot page.
I never used MobileMe, I started using iCloud when it was released to the public with iOS 5.

Has anyone else come across this?

I did on my 4s. I did a power cycle, and haven't seen it again.
