I've been having this problem intermittently for months now: With no warning, even though it claims to have 1-3 bars, my iPhone 5S will not receive calls or texts. It won't show the calls as missed; I have no idea the call happened unless the person leaves a voice mail (which I will get belatedly) or tells me later that they tried to call, as though the phone were turned off at the time. Texts will arrive up to an hour after they were sent. Once several voice mails didn't show up until several days after they were left!

Sometimes making a call myself fixes it (but sometimes it won't make calls either), sometimes turning airplane mode on then off again fixes it, and sometimes I have to reboot the phone to fix it.

Is this the fault of the phone (iPhone 5S) or the carrier (T-Mobile)? Or some strange combo? I never had this problem on my iPhone 4, which makes me think it's the phone, but is it a known problem with this model or did I just get a bad one?

Not sure if it is known problem, haven't sen it mentioned.

Have your carrier reconnect you to network---
