On friday 9th March my new iPod came and i have been very happy with it for 1 of the days i have had it.

On saturday when i plugged it in, it came up with an error saying "an unknown error (-48) has occured, and your iPod can't update. This only happened sometimes, so i didn't worry about it. And then yesturday it decided to select itself to manage songs automatically, eventhough i hadn't selected this. if you try and change this you have to erase and sync, so i did this yesturday and happily waited and hour while it updated all 30GB of my data.

But it selected to manage manually again today. What can i do to stop it doing this?

Something else i have noticed is that some of my older music is not actually on the ipod, just the file names, but they play on iTunes. any ideas about that?

Is it possibly that this is a problem with iTunes? as it is displaying the picture attatched under the capacity with it saying there is an extra 9gb when there clearly isn't
