iPhone XS Max Not upgrading after 12 month into IUP?

Im leaning toward hanging onto my XS Max until the 5G iPhone comes out fall of 2020. I’m currently on the IUP, when the next iPhone debuts this fall I’ll be eligible for upgrade. Am missing out on the benefits of IUP if I decide not to upgrade after one year?
Do majority of IUP users upgrade after one year?
 
Only Apple knows for sure. You’re perfectly fine just paying off the phone you have.

Honestly, there’s a decent chance selling it and paying it off is a better deal than IUP
