iPad Not uploading in background?

Hi there

I’m uploading big files on my Google Drive from my iPadPro and it seems the uploads pause as soon as my screen goes to lock mode. Is it not possible to have files upload to the cloud when screen locked?

Or do I really have to set auto-lock to “never” whenever I upload stuff?
