Notebook check now lists 6750 as faster than 6830. Which means 6750m was actually the fastest card for the TDP (amount of heat produced).

Well done apple :)

You also have to account for if the 6830's are often under clocked. Apple did that with the 330m last time. Which made the 330m average performance even lower then its capable of.

You know it's an AMD chip, right?

Yes.

I hoped for AMD as they provide the best performance for the low TDP that the Macbook Pro can dissipate (around 25w max ). But the question was which of the new AMD 6000 series would they use. The 6750m looked powerful but the 6830m looked better.

Now the AMD 6750m is listed ABOVE the AMD 6830m :)

Just because it's listed above the 6830 based on one single bechmark while the 6830 doesn't have a single benchmark to it's credit doesn't really mean anything... You have to take notebook chec with a grain of salt too, if you look at any of the more popular GPU's and expand their avg benchmark scores, you get a wide variety of systems used and their benchmarks will very greatly. Either way, I would've been happy with either GPU.

I completely agree. Logically its a little bit of swings and roundabouts with those two chips. But I have just bought my Macbook Pro 17 with a shiny AMD 6750m inside, and the sight of it being above the 6830m just made me smile :) .

It is great to see Apple putting in a high quality GPU. They are thermally limited by their cases but they really tried on this one. Hopefully it will be a trend for the future that they put in the highest performance GPU they can for the TDP.

Notebookcheck ranks the GPUs using the benchmarks that they currently have and they currently don't have much so the ranking is probably not accurate. The 6750 is still pretty awesome though.
