According to benchmarks run by several members of Notebookreview.com it seems that laptops with Intel HM55 and PM55 can not take full advantage of fast SSDs. The performance hit is especially visible in 4K random read and write performance. The related thread is here.
For example: A OCZ Vertex 2 should get about 20MB/sec 4K random read and 60MB/sec 4K random write.
A capped one gives about 12-14 MB/sec 4K random read and 22 MB/sec 4K random write.
These differences were consistent between CrystalDiskMark and AS-SSD benchmark.
Are people with SSDs in their 2010 Macbook Pros getting similar capped performance at 4K random read & write?
