Notes backup in mail.app?

Where does mail.app store notes?

I recently did a clean install of Lion and restored email via the user/library/mail folder but it has not included my notes.

I have several hundred and a few are pretty important.

Any clues as to where they are and how I can get them back? I have a CCC of my old OSX drive so I hope they can be recovered.
