I just discovered a serious problem syncing notes using google.

The indications are that the bug is date related (Dec 31 - Jan 1)

I have been syncing notes using google notes sync for a number of months with no problems.

Today I needed to reference a note on a PC, and, when I went to GMAIL I found that the information I needed had not been synced.

A second look showed that the last notes sync had occurred on 12/28 despite the fact that a number of notes had been updated on the device since the last sync date, or, more likely Jan 1 (it's likely that no entries were made or edited between 12/28 and 1/1)

Checking all sync settings showed that everything was set the same since notes sync was set up.

First, If any of your notes contain important information, back up your notes by emailing them to yourself before loosing them like I did.

I toggled the google "notes sync" off then back on in settings, then returned to notes and found all notes gone and the sync spinner going.

When the sync completed, everything on the device had been replaced by the notes in gmail. Everything I had entered or edited since Jan 1 had been permanently deleted.

It seems obvious that syncing stopped at midnight on 12/31. The replacement of everything on the device when sync was toggled off and then back on indicates that the software concluded that all the notes on the device were older than the notes in GMAIL

Hope that this information is of value and prevents others from loosing important information as I just did.
