I tried to go into my time machine preferences and it opened up the system preferences icon and it said "You can't install the "Time Machine" preferences pan because it is already installed.

EVERYTHING is missing now in my system preferences menu. The system preferences opens up but there aren't any icons. I try opening system preferences from the applications folder and it opens up but there aren't any icons. I went up to the top and clicked on "show all preferences" and nothing happens. They are all gone.

I try opening up system preferences from safari and it says you can't install the "keyboard" preferences pane because it is already installed.

Can anyone understand what is going on? I am running 10.6.7. It updated some software today. I am guessing that has something to do with it. It says all my software is up to date.

What am I doing wrong?

THanks for the help
