Hi, after dinner, I came back to my machine. I can see icons on the touch bar. Pressing any key including the touch sensor does not help. The screen remains blank. The first few times when I pressed the esc key, I heard "bump" each time I pressed the key. Now, pressing any key or touchpad does not produce any sound nor image on the screen. What is happening? What shall I do?

Edit: November 23, 2019. It seems like the login screen not showing up and the screen is just blank sometimes when woke up from sleep.

Thanks, it rebooted. So what happened? Having such issue within a few hours of use is not good.
The only thing I can think of is the system might have been busy with indexing (brand new system) or something CPU intensive and would have opened normally had it been given enough time. But, that's just a guess. Indexing always happens with new system setups.

Was your MBP connected with external drives?

There was a bug in previous beta regarding deep sleep with hooked drives.
Try disable "Put Hard-Disks to sleep when possible".

I wouldn't worry unless it keepos happening. Every Macbook Pro I've had would sometimes hiccup and the screen gets all weird or acts locked up.

It has happened once again this morning. Totally 2 blank screen incidents out of 5 wakes in less than a day of use.

no idea, but use that return window while you can.

When I made the purchase, they told me that due to holiday season, the last day of return is earlier January. So better to return this one that I know have problem ASAP and get another one?

Don't have time to go to Apple Store yet.

Happened three times today. Touch bar icons showed up, audio is being played, yet the screen was blank. Anybody else has this problem?

Sounds like a software issue I've had many times on older models. Did you try a reinstall?

Not yet. Why reinstall would help given that it is a brand new laptop with vanilla OS?

I guess I should change the title a bit as it seems that it is the login screen not showing up but blank.
