Nothing special about Mac OS since El Capitan?

I might be wrong but I feel that there has been no special innovations on Mac OS since El Capitan or Yosemite. Besides making the Macs more like iOS devices, what do we gain by upgrading OS X? Not much performance improvements, some bugs, etc. I felt more important changes in earlier versions. What is your opinion?
