Hi. I have both a 5th & 6th iPod Touch, both running iOS 9.3.1 - I can hear a VERY noticeable audible "shimmering" (audio compression/noise reduction artifacting) in the Voice Memo from the newer, 6th gen which I do not hear whatsoever on the older 5th gen iPod Touch. I am using this as a device for recording birdsong, and an ABSENCE of ANY interference is required.

I've attached the sample Voice Memos which were recorded at the same time, but one on a 5th gen and one on the 6th gen - could you tell me what it happening? You'll need keen ears and decent headphones. The file size of the lossy sounding one is actually LARGER by ~4Kb, which doesn't make sense to me.

[UPDATE]

It's doing this with videos TOO - ARGH!!

Many thanks.
