Notification area and Calendars

I have my gmail and my works accounts synced to the iphone, both are connected via the Activesync option when setting up the accounts.

I use Google sync to push the works appointments up to my personal calendar, the reason for this is do not always have my works connected so need to have calendar available.

Now if I go into the Calendar app it shows both calenders so I turn off the works one, so only shows one calendar, however the notification area will show the dates from both calendars.

Any way round this? As its bloody annoying
