Notification Center + Badges in iOS 8

One of my pet peeves with iOS 7 is that if I have a notification in Notification Center (say, a text message or iMessage) that I read and clear away, the badge on the icon doesn't disappear. Is this changed in iOS 8?

The badge disappears when I used quick reply.

I notice on lots of apps that if I tap the notification and it opens the app, then I go back to the notification center, that one is still there. I hope this gets fixed.
