Is there anyone else who gets random notification sounds without notifications actually being there? I have received a few over the last few months. iPhone default text tone called (note) which is only assigned as my WhatsApp sound- but no message/notifcation was there and also from fb messenger hearing the usual ping noise without a message being there .

I’m noticing this recently. Has there been any discussion on this?
There’s been multiple people on Apple support discussions but no actual proven reason for it. What sound is it you’re hearing? Mine is the default text tone called “note” (same standard one as text and WhatsApp makes)
I’m noticing this only for iMessage and the text tone is the normal one or the assigned one but it just doesn’t sound sometimes when I get the message and then it makes the sound when I open the message app.
Since about October time last year (2020) which I think is when I updated to iOS 14 I’ve been receiving occasional notification sounds without any message /notification being received. I have checked apps are not set to sounds only. I have an iPhone 11 and the sound I have heard is the default text tone which isn’t even my text tone -however, it is my whatsapp tone but ,
again no message there either. I’ve also heard the fb messenger tone a couple of times but no message has been received. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this down to an iOS14 bug?

I’ve had this happened before and always wondered what was happening. It just happened to me and I came online to check it out and found this forum.
I see people checking there notifications and everything but nobody mentioned checking to see if there’s a new update out since you can’t turn on or off your notifications for your iOS update ? I’ve checked mi e since that sound and there’s a new update iOS 15.1…So now I’m wondering if it was the update or the update was there before? Lol ?
Keep listening for that sound and let’s check the updates to see, let’s solve this mystery ?

Is anyone still having this issue. I’m using an iPhone 13 mini. I get two email notifications sounds within seconds of each other about ten times a day with no new notifications for anything. I’m OCD about notifications and clearing them. So I know when I have new ones. But this sound with no notifications is getting super annoying.
Yeah, I’ve experienced that a few times lately - vibration or sound without any notifications appearing. Annoying indeed
Yeah I think I saw you’re post in the Apple support community page. I keep my phone on silent now as it was driving me insane . I was getting Facebook messenger ping sounds too for no reason and that iPhone default tone called ‘note’ which is the WhatsApp standard tone.
