This is probably a dumb question, but I searched for awhile and couldn't come up with any answers (probably because the answer is obvious).

When I plug my 4s into my laptop, I hear the iPhone make the sound it typically makes when you connect it to a charger, my laptop makes the sound it always makes when any USB is plugged in. iTunes opens, and maybe 15 or so seconds after it opens, my computer makes the iPhone notification noise you hear when you get a text or something. It does it when I first plug it in, then periodically I believe. Is it simply a notification that the phone was plugged in?

Pretty sure it means it started to charge.

What's the big deal here? Either means it started to charge or done synching.
