Notification sounds + trash stopped working

So I don't know when or how this started happening. I've checked the settings and everything is on. Media etc can be heard just fine but I don't get any sound for notifications that pop up in the NC and I don't get any sound when I delete or clear trash. I'm on a late 2013 retina 13" on 10.10.1
