The developer has to add support for themselves. For example, calendar, reminders, and Facebook all do support notification sync.

Oh, so Sky News, BBC News etc etc have to add this to their apps for it to work?

Why doesn’t it just work by default? Why so the developer need to code it in - I don’t see the point.
