Notification thumbnails disappearing in IOS 14.5.1

I have noticed that recently these stop appearing after a few days, rebooting the phone brings them back, it happened on an earlier version of IOS 14 but this seemed to have been fixed but its back now. It’s only the thumbnail that disappears the actual picture attachment is still there
