Notification While Screen is Sleeping

I was wondering if this is a feature or a bug?

I have Hot Corners enabled - when I put my mouse on the right - down corner my screen goes to sleep.
If I receive a notification when the screen is on sleep mode - it wakes up with a black background and shows me the notification and then goes back to sleep after a few seconds.

Again... Is this a bug or a feature? Or a bug that will be turned into a feature? )

Never experienced this in ML...

During the WWDC keynote they did say that notifications were being captured when the computer was asleep, i.e., it would wake up from sleeping to pull anything down it needed. Perhaps this is part of it.

I'd post this on the developer discussions or file a bug report with apple.
