I have noticed that notifications only seem to go to the watch when other devices (Mac, iPhone etc are locked).

So if I received an email or imessage on an unlocked mac or iphone it doesnt push the notification to the watch.

Anyone found a way around this?

for the mac , quit the messages app, if your on the computer & want to get notifications on the app

if your iphone is unlocked it means your using it, so the message should go there

and nope there's no way to change this for now

I get iMessages on my watch, despite my macbook pro being on and unlocked. Although the messages app is on a different desktop most the time, so maybe just make sure Messages is not the active window...

Quite often Ill type a message on Mac and then walk away - would be nice to get an alert on the watch for this.

Needs a fix.

I know this was how the watch was intended to handle notifications, but I wish there were a way to allow notifications to come through if you were using a specific app. I use Waze every day for my commute for the crowdsourcing of traffic and police info. I have my phone plugged in with the screen on in my console for the gps. I had hoped I could just glance at my watch if I got a text or notification, but no dice.

Honestly that would be horrible. I don't want my computer, phone, watch and iPad all buzzing every time I get any sort of notification.

You can change individual apps in the Apple Watch app Notification menu, set it to not mirror iPhone and it should allow that app to notify on phone instead of watch.
