Notifications won't disappear on their own

With iOS9, if you got a notification, like a message it would pop up at the top of the screen, then disappear if you ignored it after a few seconds.

On iOS10 notifications seem to stay until you action them.

Anyone found a way change it back to the old way?

They are clearing away OK for me on iOS10
