Notifications

Hi folks -

About to transition from a BB Bold to the iphone 4. Both are through work; for that reason, I'm a little nervous about the lack of notifications for the iphone. Can't jailbreak the phone for obvious reasons, so are there any good app-based solutions for adding notifications to something other than the home screen / one time popups? Saw one called taskbar notifier, thoughts?

Most "stock" notifications also give you a badge, and the badge will stay until you open the app.
