I see that Apple Stores will start selling unlocked iPhones next month.

Does anyone know whether the AT&T monthly contracts will be cheaper than when buying a subsidized iPhone with a 2 year contract?

Nope, same prices.
Or you can also go prepaid.

Yep same price just no contract. A factory unlocked phone is worth more when resold.

Ok thanks, and I assume you can go for a month-to-month contract with AT&T?

I don't want to be locked into a 2 year contract and also I want to be able to use my phone in England with my UK sim, so this looks like the way to go.

Is there a specific date for the sale of the unlocked iPhone?

Correct, nobody knows other than what Apple has told us which is November. My guess is that it will be towards the middle of the month mainly because the 4s seems to be selling like hotcakes.

Expect it before thanksgiving for sure. I'm guessing anywhere from the 15th-18th -ish.
