For the people around me, this is real. Many of my friends, colleagues, and even my parents only use a desktop or laptop as a "real" computer at work. Phones are used for every other situation, such as at home, during commutes, at the dining table, and before sleep.

Seem like is Global thing.

I actually try to avoid using my mobile.

When I switched to using macOS years ago, part of the reason was to use Messages, email, and now even WhatsApp directly from macOS, versus having to pick up my phone every time a new notification would come in.

The more I think about it, the above is another reason I really believe I no longer need an Apple Watch...

We keep phones away from certain shared moments like the evening get together and morning coffee, preferring to keep those just as social occasions. Using a smartphone while interacting with others is bad manners in my house.

Agreed, I’ve long since stopped using my Apple Watch, thinking it surplus to requirements. I use my iPhone sparingly, I check my notifications when I have a spare moment, not necessarily when it pings me.

i feel more people on phone is " no need to sit in the same position for hours ". I mean like don't tie to yourself only on your desktop.

I'm the opposite. I spend a LOT of time in front of a computer. I purposely design the spaces I have for my computers so it's comfortable. And my Mac is connected to large displays and a TV. I'm not consuming content on a little screen like my phone.

I'm coming to the end of that though. Soon, I will be back at work. But…the work laptop goes with me, so more screens - only this time at work.

I grew up with computers. They do things phones/tablets can't. The phone is for calls, texts, some light emails and maybe web browsing when I'm out (which isn't very much). For some people phones seem to be fine, but I want a keyboard and mouse attached to a computer and as big a screen as I can get.

Agreed. I can’t stand the thought of shopping or whatever on my iPhone. Two 27” screens connected to my Mac Mini is best for that thing.

As for notifications I don’t really get any. I keep everything turned off that I can. Not on any social media or WhatsApp etc.

Yes, totally agree. It feels like most of our interactions these days happen through screens — even with our own family. Over the past couple of years, I’ve realized how much time I’ve been drawn into this little box. I wake up and reach for my phone, and it’s the last thing I look at before bed. I’m constantly staring at it. Lately, I’ve noticed my posture getting worse, and honestly, I don’t want to live like this anymore. I want my mind and body to be in sync again — not completely consumed by my phone.
