Hello, I just recently got a Seagate External hardrive. I pulled files from my PC and tried to put them on my Mac. When I went to put files from my Mac on the external, It wouldn't let me.

I googled that I needed a NTFS-3G program so I downloaded it only to find it doesn't work on OSX Lion. Now my external doesn't pop up and I am prompted with this message:

NTFS-3G could not mount /dev/disk1s1
at /Volumes/Seagate Replica because the following problem occurred:

dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libfuse.2.dylib
Referenced from: /usr/local/bin/ntfs-3g
Reason: image not found

Any ideas of how to fix this? I tried removing the NTFS-3G Icon to the trash from system preferences, but nothing has worked.

Any help would be great, thanks.

NTFS (Windows NT File System)
  • Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
  • Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
[*]To Read/Write/Format NTFS from Mac OS X, here are some alternatives:
    • For Mac OS X 10.4 or later (32 or 64-bit), install Paragon (approx $20) (Best Choice for Lion)
    • For 32-bit Mac OS X, install NTFS-3G for Mac OS X (free) (does not work in 64-bit mode)
    • For 64-bit Snow Leopard, read this: MacFUSE for 64-bit Snow Leopard
    • Some have reported problems using Tuxera (approx $36).
    • Native NTFS support can be enabled in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is not advisable, due to instability.
  • AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support NTFS
  • Maximum file size: 16 TB
  • Maximum volume size: 256TB
  • You can use this format if you routinely share a drive with multiple Windows systems.

NTFG-3G error

Hi All,

I have the exact same problem as Havoc666, I just want to uninstall this program so I can see my external hard drive and format it as FAT32. Can anyone please reply on how to uninstall and get rid of this error message. Thanks

Ntfs-3g same problem helppppppp please

GET THE SAME PROBLEM AND I AM TOTTALY CONFUSED BY THE STEPS I NEED TO TAKE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM . CAN SOMEONE GUIDE ME STEP BY STEP I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE IT AND ANY FREE OPTIONS WOULD BE A BONUS TO GET THE DAM THING TO WORK ON MY MAC OSX 10.7.4 !!

AT THE MOMENT I HAVE DOWNLOADED http://download.cnet.com/NTFS-3G/3000-2094_4-10913782.html

BUT THE ERROR BELOW KEEPS COMING UP

NTFS-3G

Message = NTFS - 3G could not mount / dev/disk1s1 at / volumes/mypassport because the following problem occurred .

dyld:library not loaded: / use/local/lib/libfuse
2.bylib
referenced from : / use/local/bin/ntfs-3g
reason:image not found

NTFS-3G errors

I got the same error, and subsequently loaded OSXFUSE (with MacFUSE compatibility layer).

I still get an error, but it's about NTFS-3G not getting a signal within 15.00000 seconds. But the external hard drive mounts, and NTFS now appears as an option in DiskUtility, and I can copy files to the NTFS volume by dragging and dropping in Finder.

It's a little disturbing, but it's working.

Hello

This solution helped me without problem, since I couldn't finish last step, immediately after that could not mount stopped. I have Lion 10.7.5 Macbook Pro 2011 and have NTFS Mac-fuse solution installed from early beginning. Don't stop be interested in know, there are solutions for Paragon and some other to. This looks quite dificult for me at first look but now I finally tried it and it takes about 10 minutes. Just don't be scare if you don't know terminal yet, then you'll be prompted to type password it looks like you can't type but you can. Just type and press enter.

Here's the link http://fernandoff.posterous.com/ntfs-write-support-on-osx-lion-with-ntfs-3g-f (sometimes it takes little bit longer to load)

Hope it helps

PS: Sorry, I don't have time to read everything, just found working solution so I decided to post it everywhere

Thought I'd post something helpful...

I was getting the error

NTFS-3G

Message = NTFS - 3G could not mount / dev/disk1s1 at / volumes/mypassport because the following problem occurred .

dyld:library not loaded: / use/local/lib/libfuse
2.bylib
referenced from : / use/local/bin/ntfs-3g
reason:image not found

I found that installing Fuse with the MacFuse compatibility layer fixed this error.

That's a FIX

Paragon solution worked perfectly

The above suggestion to install Paragon worked perfectly for me. Took 10 minutes (did cost $20).

A huuuuuge thanks you to you guys!!!

You have quite possibly saved my life.

I had 16gb worth of old family photos of my wifes side of the family and for some reason the USB drive just stopped working. Panic is an understatement

I installed Fuse and MacFuse onto my MacBook pro and even though Disk Utility threw up errors the disk mounted and I could copy all the photo folders to my HDD.

Thanks once again !!!!

Thanks that helped... do i remove the NTFS-3G? (if yes, how :)) Did we only need macfuse? life saver thanks guys

Awesome! Thank you so much!

Worked very well for me. I had around 150GB of data on my external hard drive previously formatted on NTFS and recently bought a Macbook PRo -worked flawlessly.

Thanks

This worked for me too. I just restarted the OSxFuse installation checked the compatibility layer option and everything worked.

Thank you!
