Problem: I need to recover a few files from a corrupted NTFS (Boot Camp) partition on my MBP. Also, the partition won't mount anymore.
Cause: While I was trying to repartition my hard drive, I think Lion somehow overwrote a chunk of my Boot Camp partition with the "Recovery HD". I have no idea why it would do this.
Solution?:
Is there anything out there that will do this? The closest app I've seen is Boomerang, but the price tag's a little steep. Most of the others I've seen will only recover HFS/HFS+ partitions.
I tried Disk Drill, which seemed to work well other than the fact that it didn't find the files I needed. It didn't seem to have a way to browse the actual volume and instead just gave me a list of some of the files it thought I might want to recover.
Data Rescue won't let me run deep scan on any mounted volumes. Since I'm trying to save an NTFS partition, I don't think it'll help.
Thanks!
