NuForce uDAC and Cinema Display

I have a 2010 MBP that I connect to a Apple Cinema display. If I connect a NuForce uDAC to the Cinema Display will the sole sound output be thru the uDAC or will I still get output thru the Cinema display speakers too?

I want to be able to leave the uDAC connected to the display but not have the display speakers output at all.

I have this dac connected to my cinema display. In the sound prefs you can choose where alert sounds and audio go separately. So I have alerts go to the display speakers softly while audio music goes to the dac.

Yes you can have the sound go only too the uDac just select it as an audio device by ether going into the system preferences and then sound settings like listed above or a quicker way is to hold down the option key and click on the volume button. This will show you all your sound devices and let you quick select between your uDac and your other devices.
