anyone have a tried and true method to n&p from Monty to Sequoia?
Or any gotchas?
I'm thinking a boot/install USB for Sequoia and go from there.
Then fresh installs of the more fiddly apps, Pro Tools & plugs, DaVinci & Logic Pro X.
Although I don't have an install for Logic Pro X, as it came with the computer when I bought it 2nd hand.
2018 mIntel i7, 64G.

If I'm reading the specs correctly then a 2018 i7 with 64 GB of RAM would need to be a Mini. That means it has the T2 chip.

The easiest thing to do in this case is install the latest OS on top of the existing one via the App Store, then do an Erase All Content and Settings. This is equivalent to manually wiping and reinstalling the OS, but with much less hassle.

I'm not sure of the process for backing up Logic. I believe it was available pre-installed as an option, and I'm guessing that's what happened here, but I don't know how to reinstall it. [Edit: It looks like you need to "adopt" the app.]

@Nermal ‘s method is by far the simplest.

Since you bought the computer used, you don’t have the license for Logic Pro; that’s likely already been adopted by the Apple Account that originally activated it. So that’ll be a purchase from the App Store if you still want it.

thanks both for the info and links. Yes a mini.
"Erase all...", means a total wipe of data and docs I assume, a true n&p.
For Monty last time, I made a boot/install USB and wiped only the system and related, then reinstalled from there.
I don't use TM or iCloud, but rather iDrive and I don't see "Erase all..." in Sys Prefs.
Is Recovery the option in this case or is that more or less the App store?
Seems whatever option to adopt Logic Pro X isn't available. Oh well.

I mean… you can do whatever you want. USB installer, Internet Recovery, whatever.

But simply updating & then erasing settings is the simplest way to accomplish what you’re trying to do.

That plan sounds solid. Just make sure all your app licenses and installers are ready before the wipe. No major gotchas if you’ve got backups sorted.
