Numbers Formatting Help (HLOOKUP & VLOOKUP)

I am trying to create a form in Numbers from data that has already been inputed.

When I use HLOOKUP or VLOOKUP and the target field is blank the command returns a zero. Does anyone know how I can just make it return the blank field instead of the zero?

one way I can think of, is to something like this:

=IF(ISBLANK(A9);"";<your calc here>)
