Numbers - How to resize cells

Can anyone tell me how to resize the cells, columns or rows in Numbers for iPad?

I want to enter a description for things and am stumped at getting the columns to resize.

If you go to the grey bar at the very top above the first row you can select the whole column. Then it goes blue and two small vertical lines appear which you can use to resize exactly how you want.

That make sense?
