Numbers keeps crashing

I am running OX X10.6.8 and Numbers09.
My numbers program keeps crashing and I get the following message:

I have checked for updates and done all that are available to me. Any ideas?

That is the whole message?

Have you tried deleting "com.apple.Numbers.plist" (might have an "iWork" between apple. and .Numbers) in Macintosh HD / Users / YOU / Library / Preferences / yet?

no I haven't done that yet...what will that do?

Delete the preferences list file, settings per se (where the window is, and so on).

I did that and it has worked so far. Thanks
