numbers next to Apple TV

Has anybody had numbers appear besides your Apple TV when trying to use things such as Airplay? Also, when trying to use the iOS remote app, multiple Apple TV's show up. Anybody know what is going on?

Yes. I think it started after the last update. There's a (2) after the name now.

No duplicate though so it's as if it had two and erased the one with (1).

I have found the same thing, for me it appears two apple tv's (one correct).

I tried connecting to second one but it just hangs there

Not a new phenomenon

This has been happening to me regularly since I installed 2 Apple TVs side by side in my lecture hall in early February 2015. No idea why this happens or what it signifies, but it hasn't caused me any problems.

After renaming my AppleTV several times as suggested on here it seems to be fixed for me. I haven't seen it in what feels like a month or two. *knocks on wood*
