Numbers post last value from a column

I am trying to create a graph that can be easily updated once a month. I want the Total row to get the last value entered from each column.

In this case column A total should read 9. If in September the value is 12 I want Total for column a to reflect that.

The value in the total row will be used for a pie and line chart.

What would be the appropriate formula to automate this as much as possible?

EDIT I called AppleCare and they are telling me there is no such formula.

Try =LOOKUP(999999999999,Column A, Column B)

For column A and B click on those to select them.

That looks great I will give it a try when I get home. Is there a way of running the formula without having the column next to the left of the month column?

The lookup reference needs the largest number on a column. You could hide the first column. The second sheet has it hidden.
