Numbers - Search Cell Contents Function

I basically have a list of 1,000's of Scientific names listed down the page. I want to be able to search for this by entering the first few letters and have it auto complete.

For instance if I had
Appall
Apparel
Appealing
Appease
Appellant
Apperception

Entering APPA would instantly select the first word, while APPEAS would be needed to select the fourth word.

I called apple tech who are 'not allowed to help with such specifics' I've tried to play with LOOKUP and VLOOKUP but there has to be something simpler!

Any help please!
